NEWSSri Lanka have announced a 22-member squad for the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) series against South Africa, starting September 2. Dinesh Chandimal returns to the squad, while Kusal Perera, who has completed his quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19 has also been included.
Chandimal has not played for Sri Lanka since he played against West Indies in the Caribbean in March-April earlier this year. He has played just five ODIs three T20Is in the last two years. The likes of Lahiru Madushanka, Mahesh Theekshana and Pulina Tharanga are some of the new faces in the team, which will be led by Dasun Shanaka.
Sri Lanka and South Africa will play three ODIs and as many T20Is - all at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo - ahead of the T20 World Cup. The series will end on September 14 after which the focus will shift to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.
This is the last international series for both sides before the T20 World Cup, starting October 17.
