Delhi Capitals (DC)’s Mitchell Starc bowled one of the best spells of death bowling ever in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), when he bowled 10 yorkers out of 12 against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 16 (Wednesday), to take his team to a win in the Super Over, before which, he defended 9 in the 20th over.
Axar Patel, captain of DC, revealed what Starc was planning and why he said, ‘Don’t worry, skip, I’ll do it’. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Axar said, “Getting reverse swing is one thing and executing is another. All I was doing was reminding him of the field positions that we had discussed in the bowling meeting, and he responded by saying, ‘Don’t worry, skip, I will do it’.”

“Our plan was that I knew Starc had all the things in range, be it slower ones, yorkers, bouncers and everything. So he had his last two overs left, and I knew he could beat the batters with his pace. But when he was able to get Nitish's wicket with the yorker, we discussed that it was not right to think too much that I have to bowl every ball and just focus on executing the yorker,” added the 29-year-old.
Was there any chance that Starc would deviate from his length? To this question, Axar replied, “He said that he would go with either yorker or wide yorker according to what I feel, so keep the field the same.”
Starc delivered exactly according to the plan and went for just 11 runs in the Super Over, which Delhi chased down with two balls to spare.
