India pacer Jasprit Bumrah proved once again why he is among the best bowlers in the world, as he picked up another five-wicket haul - his 12th in away Tests. In doing so in the first Test at Headingley, he joined Kapil Dev among Indian bowlers to pick up the most fifers in the format away from home.
12 - Jasprit Bumrah (64 inns)
12 - Kapil Dev (108 inns)
10 - Anil Kumble (121 inns)
9 - Ishant Sharma (111 inns)
With the wicket of Josh Tongue, he became the first Asian bowler to pick up 150 wickets in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand & Australia).
Bumrah picked up all three England wickets to fall on Day 1 at Headingley, and the following day picked up the last two wickets to finish with 5/83. Overall, this is his 14th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Among Indian pacers, only Kapil Dev with 23 fifers has more.
Bumrah's efforts ensured India took a slender six-run lead in the first innings, after they put up 471. Ollie Pope scored a ton, while Harry Brook fell one short of a century as England were bowled out for 465.
