It was a LOOOONGGG day for England in the field, as India, after being put to bat first, amassed 359 runs on day one of the Headingley Test, on June 20 (Friday). While KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave India a steady start, with a 91-run partnership, the Three Lions made a mini comeback, reducing the visitors to 92/2.
However, since then, it was a one-way traffic as India’s new Test captain Shubman Gill outshone all his batting compatriots with a stellar century, smashing 127 off 175 deliveries. His deputy, Rishabh Pant, didn’t disappoint either, with a 102-ball 65, giving England a taste of their own medicine.
But will India’s strong start be spoiled by rain on day two?
Unlike day one, which was bright and clear at the Headingley Cricket Stadium in Leeds, day two might have rain interruptions.
According to Accuweather, one of the most trustworthy weather apps in the UK, there’s a ‘Yellow warning’ for Thunderstorms in and around Headingley, where India’s first Test against England is being played.
“Partly sunny and very warm; a couple of afternoon showers and a heavy thunderstorm; thunderstorms can bring flooding downpours, hail and damaging wind gusts,” read Accuweather.
There’s an 86% probability of precipitation around the venue, and a 44% cloud cover, with a predicted two hours of rain.
