Brendon McCullum will have more Kiwi company in England in the coming months as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have appointed Tim Southee as a Specialist Skills Consultant for the England Men’s teams on a short-term basis.
Southee, who retired from international cricket six months back, will be assisting the England side till the end of the five-Test series against India across all formats.
“With his vast experience of playing in a wide range of conditions around the world and across all formats, he brings valuable insight and knowledge to the players. Following his consultancy stint, he will resume playing duties in The Hundred for Birmingham Phoenix,” the ECB said in a statement.
Southee will link-up with the England squad ahead of the one-off four-day Test against Zimbabwe on May 22. He will be there for the white-ball series against West Indies, and then the five-Test series against India, which goes on till August 4th. The 2025 edition of The Hundred will kick-off on August 5.
