England Name New Captain For 3rd T20I as Nat Sciver-Brunt Ruled Out With Injury
Maia Bouchier has been called up to the squad as cover for the injured Sciver-Brunt
The ongoing T20I series against India Women has gone from bad to worse for England Women as incumbent skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt has been ruled out of the third T20I at The Oval due to injury. Sciver-Brunt sustained a groin injury in the second T20I and it ruled her out of the third game. It has also put her participation in the rest of the series in jeopardy.
In her absence, England will be captained by veteran Tammy Beaumont, who has played 106 T20Is. Beaumont has played 246 international matches but the third T20I will be her first ever time captaining the country.
“Results of the scan will determine whether Sciver-Brunt is required to miss any more games in the series, with the fourth Vitality IT20 due to take place on Wednesday 9 July at Emirates Old Trafford,” the ECB said in a statement.
Maia Bouchier has been called up to the squad as cover for the injured Sciver-Brunt.
England Women are 0-2 down in the five-match series. They lost the first T20I by 97 runs and then the second game by 24 runs. The third T20I will be played tomorrow at The Oval.
