Faf du Plessis set to lead Johannesburg Super Kings

Stephen Fleming will coach the Johannesburg-based franchise

The 38-year-old South African batter, Faf du Plessis will be back in yellow, with the franchise roping the right-hander for the Johannesburg Super Kings. Faf will reunite with his former coach at Chennai Super Kings, Stephen Fleming, who will be the head coach of the franchise. The franchise also announced that English all-rounder Moeen Ali as the second signing of the season.

Apart from the two stars, the franchise have roped in Sri Lankan mystery spinner, Maheesh Theekshana in the setup. West Indies all-rounder, Romario Shepherd too joins the squad ahead of the first season of the newly-formed T20 league. South African pacer, Gerald Coetzee would round up as the fifth signing for the franchise, as a development player.

ESPNCricinfo has reported that Stephen Fleming will be joined by Eric Simmons, who will be his understudy. Former CSK all-rounder, Albie Morkel too will join the setup as part of the backroom staff. The all-rounder was part of the CSK setup that won two IPL titles, in 2010 and 2011.

The reports also added that Ali is the third-most expensive player on the list. However, a clarity on whether he would feature in the South African T20 league or UAE’s ILT20 is yet to be confirmed.
