Pakistan's Faheem Ashraf has been cleared for the second Test against Australia in Karachi starting on Saturday after testing negative for covid-19, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Wednesday.
The allrounder had tested positive on arrival at the team hotel in Karachi, but returned negative in the retests which made him eligible for selection.
"Faheem has tested negative in retests and has rejoined the side, meaning he's now available for the second test," a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesperson said.
Ashraf had missed the first Test in Rawalpindi due to a hamstring injury, from which he was expected to recover to be eligible to play the second Test. Pakistan had roped in Iftikhar Ahmed into the squad as a result.
He has taken 22 wickets and scored 600 runs in the 13 tests he has played for Pakistan.
Pakistan are without pacers Hasan Ali (adductor strain) and Haris Rauf (covid-19), as they added Mohammad Wasim Jr and Naseem Shah as their replacements.
