NEWSThe fate of the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021, which was scheduled to be held in the UAE between June 1-20 hangs in the balance as the decision to go ahead with it or not will be taken by the end of Thursday (May 20), UAE time.
“In today’s online discussion, we updated the team owners that the PCB had been advised that the PSL had received approvals from the relevant authorities in the UAE. However, some clarifications on certain exemption requests are still awaited, which are expected at some stage on Thursday," PCB chief executive Wasim Khan said in a media release.
“The team owners agreed that if we do not receive clarity by Thursday afternoon, then they’ll have no other option but to request postponement of the remaining 20 matches."
“In the meantime, we will continue to liaise with the UAE government and the Emirates Cricket Board as they are equally keen for the event to be held in the UAE”
14 out of the 34 matches took place in Pakistan in February-March earlier this year, before the rise in cases in the country brought an end to the tournament. UAE was tipped to host the remaining 20 matches, but it has currently hit a roadblock, with the matches most likely to be postponed further.
There were earlier reports of Abu Dhabi offering to host the PSL on the condition that all the participants be vaccinated.
