Aryavir Sehwag, elder son of former India opener Virender Sehwag, made his Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 debut for the Central Delhi Kings against the East Delhi Riders in match 39 of the league on August 27 (Wednesday) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Aryavir, who shares his name with modern-day great Virat Kohli’s nephew Aryaveer, fetched INR 8 Lakh at the DPL auction, and eventually made his debut in the league, which was also the penultimate league stage game of the tournament.
Opening the innings just like his father, Aryavir scored a quickfire 22 off just 16 balls, hitting four boundaries on the way. The right-handed batter even hit India international Navdeep Saini for consecutive boundaries through the off-side.
Aryavir was drafted into the playing 11 in place of Yash Dhull, who has had a tremendous DPL 2025 with two hundreds and three fifties to his name.
Dhull was rested for this game to keep him fresh for the playoffs as the Kings have already qualified for the playoffs.
Kohli’s nephew, who was bought for INR 1 Lakh, has so far not got a game from his team South Delhi Superstarz.
