Former Pakistan Captain Lashes Out At Afridi, Naseem For Lackluster Show
Laitf's frustration emerged from the team's giving away more than 300 runs against New Zealand in the first match of the Tri-Series
Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif lashed out against the national team’s pacers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah for being unable to win games on their own for the side.
“When was the last time Afridi delivered a match-winning performance? Naseem has also not contributed significantly to Pakistan’s success,” PTI quoted Latif as saying on a YouTube channel in Pakistan.
“I have concerns over the form of Shaheen, Naseem and others and I feel they have not performed as expected,” added Latif, who is also a former wicket-keeper.
Laitf's frustration emerged from the team's giving away more than 300 runs against New Zealand in the first match of the Tri-Series. In that game, Shaheen and Naseem’s economy read- 8.8 and 7, respectively.
“No one is talking about these players’ lackluster performances,” Latif said. However, it seems that Latif’s words echoed well as Shaheen improved his showing by going for 2/66 in this match against South Africa.
Shaheen was even involved in a heated argument with Matthew Breetzke during the match.
