India’s Asia Cup 2025 opener against the UAE in Dubai on September 10 (Wednesday) turned out to be a one-sided affair that lasted just 17.4 overs. The UAE folded for a paltry 57 in 13.1 overs before the Men in Blue raced to the target in just 4.3 overs - registering their biggest win in T20I history.
Kuldeep Yadav and Shivam Dube shared seven wickets between them, while Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Varun Chakaravarthy chipped in with one apiece. In the chase, Abhishek Sharma blazed 30 off 16 before falling to Junaid Siddique, while Shubman Gill (20 off 9) and Suryakumar Yadav (7 off 2) sealed the thumping win unbeaten.
At the post-match presentation, former batter and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar lauded India’s dominance but slipped in a cheeky remark. “It was just unbelievable. The dominance was there to see. I am just wondering whether you will get your full match fees," he quipped.
Suryakumar couldn't hold back his laughter and responded: “That we will talk about later. But yeah, clinical performance from the boys. That’s what we asked for; we wanted good energy and attitude on the field.
“Recently lot of the boys were here for the Champions Trophy, the wicket looked good but it was on the slower side and the spinners have a role. Here it is very hot right now and Kuldeep did well, got good support from Hardik, Dube and Bumrah.”
India will now gear up for a blockbuster clash against Pakistan in Dubai on September 14.
