Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored centuries for the Indian team on Day 1 of the Headingley Test on June 20 (Friday). This reminded the Indian great Sachin Tendulkar of another Headingley Test that took place in 2002 where not one or two but three Indians scored centuries at the same venue against the same opposition.
Tendulkar tweeted about it, mentioning how he, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly scored tons and India went on to win that game. He then asked who would be the third Indian in this game alongside Jaiswal and Gill to score a ton and win the match for the country.
Replying to that, Ganguly said that maybe not just three but four Indian players could hit a century for India with Rishabh Pant batting at 68 and Karun Nair yet to come to bat.
In that 2002 game at Headingley, after scoring 628/8 and declaring their innings, they bowled out England in the first innings for 273 and in the second innings for 309, winning the game by an innings and 46 runs.
