Glenn McGrath Says Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma "Got Found Out" In Perth

Both were returning to international cricket after a long break since March, and it showed

One of the greatest fast bowlers of all time, Glenn McGrath, believes India’s star duo Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma “got found out a little bit” during the first ODI against Australia in Perth. Both were returning to international cricket after a long break since March, and it showed.

Stripped of ODI captaincy duties, Rohit struggled to find rhythm and managed just 8 runs off 14 balls before Josh Hazlewood dismissed him in the fourth over.

Kohli, walking in at No. 3, looked equally uncomfortable. He faced eight deliveries without scoring before falling for a duck, edging an ambitious drive off Mitchell Starc to backward point. It was his first ODI duck in 30 innings in Australia and only his second slowest ODI duck overall.

"There was a lot of talk going into the match about the two greats, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. They've not had a lot of cricket under their belt,” McGrath said on the Fast Bowling Cartel YouTube channel.

“And I think they got found out a little bit on a pitch that has got a little bit more pace and a lot more bounce than what they're used to back in India.”

On a rain-affected, seamer-friendly track, India stumbled to 136/9 in 26 overs, before Australia comfortably chased down the target to seal a seven-wicket win and a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

The second ODI will be played in Adelaide on October 23 (Thursday).
