India batter Ajinkya Rahane played last of his 85 Tests in 2023 against the West Indies. It has been two years since he turned up for India in whites, but he continues to toil hard in the domestic circuit in a bid to return to the team.
However, the 37-year-old still harbours hopes of making a return to the team, further adding that he has not received any communication from the selectors regarding his future.
"I still want to play Test cricket. I'm really passionate about playing Test cricket. I'm enjoying my cricket at the moment. Frankly, I tried to have conversations with the selectors, but things [like that are] as a player, I cannot control. I got no response," Rahane said in an interview with Sky Sports.
"As a player, all I can do is keep playing cricket, keep enjoying the game, give my best each and every time."
Rahane has 14,000 runs in first-class cricket, out of which 5,077 have come in Tests at an average of 38.46. He also has 12 centuries and 26 fifties in Tests to his name.
