The two India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 encounters have not been short of controversies. In the group stage match, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wrote to the ICC complaining about the Indian players for not keeping with the spirit of the game by refusing to shake hands with their players.
Moreover, the PCB also wanted match referee Andy Pycroft removed as he had allegedly advised India captain Suryakumar Yadav not to shake hands with his counterpart during the toss.
Things just escalated in the Super Fours fixture, where Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan taunted the Indian fans with controversial gestures and the BCCI wrote to the ICC as a result.
It is now understood that both Farhan and Rauf have pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them. Farhan said that the "gun celebration" was 'a traditional way of celebrating in his ethnic Pakhtun tribe.'
Regardless, Rauf is expected to pay a fine for abusing Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill during the previous game against India. The fine could go up if he is found guilty of showing dissent as per the complaint.
The same for Farhan, who would be fined 50-100% of his match fee if found guilty. India won both their matches in the Asia Cup against Pakistan with ease. The two teams will meet for the third time in the final on September 28 (Sunday) in Dubai.
