Harshit Rana, who impressed all with his bowling in the first ODI of the three-match series against visitors South Africa, credited the stalwarts of the Indian team, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, for making the dressing room happy and getting everyone motivated.
"It is a big thing for me, and for the entire team too. If such experienced players are with you in the dressing room and on the field, the environment stays great. At this time, off the field – even the dressing room – it is a happy environment for the entire team,” Rana said in the pre-match press conference on December 2 (Tuesday) in Raipur ahead of the second ODI.
“They always want youngsters to get better. When I am bowling, for example, they always tell me how to bowl better. When a player gets such a great team environment, things automatically go well,” added the hero of the team from the first ODI in Ranchi.
Talking about the duo’s dose of motivation, Harshit, who has shared the dressing room with them in 9 of his total 16 outings for the national team, said that they themselves remained motivated all the time and that energy gets transferred easily.
"They are always motivated – whether it is good times or bad times. They back you and tell you what next steps you should take. As a youngster, this really helps you, because when you are on the field – in a pressure situation – they help you out a lot,” said the pacer.
While Harshit took 3/65 in his 10 overs, including two in his first over itself, Kohli scored his 52nd ODI century and Rohit smashed a quickfire fifty to shine for their team.
India, having won the Ranchi ODI by 17 runs, would look to seal the series in Raipur.
