Rohit Sharma was the talk of the town, as the former Mumbai Indians’ skipper dropped a dolly in their must-win clash against Delhi Capitals, on May 21 (Wednesday). The 38-year-old, fielding at short third, got there with both hands but then let the ball go through completely, making a fool of himself.
The incident happened in the last over of the powerplay, when the left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner bamboozled Vipraj Nigam, as the right-hander tried to slice the ball. However, as it turned out, the ball didn’t fly as expected as Rohit dropped a simple catch, leaving Santner heavily frustrated.
In the aftermath of that, even Rohit couldn’t believe it as the replays confirmed the dolly. Eventually, it didn’t cost Mumbai a lot, as Vipraj was later dismissed two overs later, with Santner getting the last laugh.
To add salt to the wound, Rohit was also subbed off the very next over, with Karn Sharma being introduced as the impact player. Earlier in the clash, Rohit didn’t have the best of nights with the bat as well, getting out for a five-ball five, enduring a tough night out there.
