England captain Heather Knight who suffered a hip injury ahead of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) has undergone hip surgery that is most likely to keep her out till the end of the year.
As a result of her injury, she missed the CWG Games in Birmingham and also the ongoing season of The Hundred, the India series and also the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) in October.

I’ve had a little clean out of my hip to get me back and running soon. Unfortunately it rules me out of the India series and the WBBL, but I’m aiming to be back by the end of the year 💪🏼. Time to make the most of a bit of time away and bring on the rehab! pic.twitter.com/4Mcwjs2nwN
"Surgery (tick) I've had a little clean out of my hip to get me back and running soon," Knight wrote on her Twitter on Friday alongside a picture of her in the hospital.
"Unfortunately it rules me out of the India series and the WBBL, but I'm aiming to be back by the end of the year. Time to make the most of a bit of time away and bring on the rehab!" she added.
Knight had joined the England squad for the T20I series against South Africa after taking injections on her hip. Knight was part of the CWG squad but did not play a single game due to the injury and it was Nat Sciver who led England as a result.
India and England will play a white-ball bilateral series consisting of three ODIs and as many T20Is starting September 10.
