A3) KL Rahul’s unbeaten 132 for Kings XI Punjab against RCB at Dubai is now the highest by an Indian batsman in the IPL. And overall, it is the fourth-highest individual score in IPL history after Chris Gayle (175* for RCB in 2013), Brendon McCullum (158* for KKR in 2008) and AB de Villiers (133* for RCB in 2015). Thanks for the interesting details on Nawab of Pataudi’s eye injury. Just needed to know how many times has he led a first-class side before he became the captain of India in the Caribbean in 1962? - S Jayshankar on Twitter on Twitter

Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was made captain in the Bridgetown Test match after the regular captain Nari Contractor was injured in the tour game just a week before the Test match. At that stage of his career, he had captained Oxford University in 15 first-class games during the season of 1961 and then one other first-class match in India for the Board President’s XI against the touring MCC side, before his Test debut against England at Delhi in December 1961. This means that he had captained in 16 first-class games before leading India. During this period, he also did not captain any Ranji Trophy side. However, it should be noted here that, though he was just 21 years, he had been playing first-class cricket since 1957 and majority of them were in England for Sussex and Oxford University. His maiden Test match as India captain was then his 77th first-class match of his career.
