HUGE Blow For RCB As Patidar Could Miss Remainder Of IPL 2025: Reports

Patidar sustained the injury during RCB’s clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chinnaswamy

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)’s curse with injuries looks set to continue as Indian Express have reported that the side’s skipper Rajat Patidar is a major doubt for the remainder of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a finger injury.

Patidar sustained the injury during RCB’s clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, and would have missed multiple games had IPL 2025 not been temporarily suspended. But even though IPL 2025 will only restart on May 17, Indian Express have reported that the RCB captain will miss not just the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) but multiple games, potentially even the remainder of the season.

According to the report, if Patidar sits out, Jitesh Sharma could captain RCB in his absence.

Patidar’s injury is one of many availability headaches for RCB as IPL 2025 restarts. Devdutt Padikkal has already been ruled out of the season, while Josh Hazlewood is also injured and unlikely to return to India and finish the competition.

But with the IPL extending till June 3, the franchise might also not have Romario Shepherd, Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone and Phil Salt for the playoffs, given England and West Indies play a three-match ODI series starting May 29.

Meanwhile, Lungi Ngidi might also not be available for the playoffs due to the World Test Championship (WTC) Final preparation. South Africa are slated to play Zimbabwe in a four-day game from June 3 to June 6 as preparation for the WTC Final against Australia.
