South Africa, the inaugural winners of the ICC Champions Trophy (then ICC Knockouts Trophy) in 1998, are coming into the ninth edition of this tournament with the thirst of winning their second ICC trophy after 27 years. They have been spectacular in recent ICC tournaments making into the semis in ICC CWC 2023 and their first World Cup final in ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
They have all their bases covered in their 15-member squad and have been getting much-needed preparation currently in the tri-series against Pakistan and New Zealand in Pakistan.
They are a part of the “Group of Death” in Group B along with Australia, England and Afghanistan. Each game will matter, as a single defeat can completely derail the team’s chances of qualification. They will be playing Afghanistan and England in Karachi and Australia in Rawalpindi on tracks that are considered batting paradise.
