John Keats once said, “A thing of beauty is a joy forever”. He might have been thinking 100 things while trying to communicate the meaning of his words, but one thing that cricket lovers can connect with, without any mistake, is Glenn Phillips and his insane catching skills.
Here are three moments when Phillips amazed people with his insane catching skills in cricket.
First one, first, and Virat Kohli was left bemused after Phillips plucked one out of thin air and reacted as if it was nothing for him.
Fielding at backward point, Phillips went one-handed on a cut shot from Kohli off the bowling of Matt Henry in the last group stage game of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai.
Not only Kohli but even his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, sitting in the stands, was left stunned by Phillips's superhuman effort.
From the last group stage game to the first one in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Against Pakistan in Karachi, Phillips, once again at backward point, was in the scheme of things as he caught a one-handed blinder. This time around, the ball was to his left by Mohammad Rizwan, opposite to Kohli’s catch on his right.
Even against Rizwan, Phillips couldn’t believe that he had gotten to the ball one-handed and caught it as well. The bowler was William O’Rourke this time around.
From one-handed blinders to his left and right, we move to the best of them all, probably. Phillips went double-handed on this one as he literally flew, running behind the ball hit by Marcus Stoinis of Australia and caught with both his hands underneath the ball at deep extra cover in Sydney during Match 1 of Super 12 of the T20 World Cup 2022.
