The updated ICC Test Rankings came out on September 25 (Wednesday) and brought with them the shock exit of Virat Kohli from top 10 batters list. However, the Indian trio of Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma retained their place in the top ten rankings.
For the first time since his accident, Pant re-entered the top ten rankings for Test batters, ranked sixth, while Jaiswal’s half-century was enough to move him up to the fifth place. Despite the twin failures against Bangladesh, Indian skipper Rohit managed to keep his place in the top ten rankings.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka’s left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya moved five spots, occupying the eighth position in the Test bowlers rankings. Another Lankan Asitha Fernando slipped out of the top ten while Kamindu Mendis moved to 16th in batters' rankings.
ODI Rankings
Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who hit his seventh ODI century, his first against South Africa, moved up the ladder to eighth, creating history. The right-handed opener became the first Afghanistan batter to enter the top ten rankings for batters in ODIs.
On the other hand, Travis Head continued to blaze away at the ninth spot, following his unbeaten 154 against England in the first ODI. Meanwhile, Rashid Khan moved eight spots to the third position in the bowler's rankings.
