Backing Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana to come good in the second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor David Hussey feels that the duo are set to 'shock the world' and added that they are the next generation of Indian players.
"Both quality players. Both are quality people too. They are both determined to do very well for this team and themselves. Both have had a taste of international cricket and I think they are about to shock the world that they are the next generation of Indian players." Hussey said in a video on KKR's official website.
"Not just for one or two series. They are there for a decade, long time. If they get going, look out for us at the IPL", he further added.
Both Gill and Rana were in contrasting forms in the first half of the tournament. While Gill managed just 132 runs in seven matches, Rana is KKR's leading run-getter, having notched up 201 runs.
Gill has recovered from his shin injury that kept him out of the Test series against England after he played a part in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand in Southampton. Rana, on the other hand, made his international debut recently, having played an ODI and a couple of T20Is against Sri Lanka.
KKR restart their campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday (September 20) in Abu Dhabi.
