Ignored for Women's World Cup, Shafali Verma Responds With Quickfire Fifty vs Australia A

The India Woman batter slammed 52 off just 58 deliveries in the second innings of the unofficial Test

Shafali Verma is going through a bit of a rut as far as her One-Day International (ODI) form is concerned, and as a result, she did not make the cut for the Women's ODI World Cup, slated to begin at the end of next month. However, that has not deterred the India Women batter from scoring runs, as she struck a sublime fifty in the unofficial Test against Australia A Women in Brisbane on August 23 (Saturday).

The opening batter struck 52 off just 58, at a strike rate of close to 90, which included two sixes and as many fours, before being dismissed by medium-pacer Amy Edgar.

Shafali wasted little time in the first innings as well, as she got off to a superb start, scoring 35 off just 38 deliveries, before being cleaned up by Georgia Prestwidge.

Fifties from Raghvi Bist (93) and Joshitha VJ (51) helped India Women A get to 299 in the first innings before they bowled out Australia for 305. India seem to be in command as they are closing in on a lead of 200 with six wickets in hand at the time of writing this.

This is the final match of the tour. India Women A won the one-day series, but it was Australia A Women who completed a 3-0 clean sweep in the T20s.
