Decline In Quality Bowling? England Great Feels Batting Way Easier Now

His comments come a day after Joe Root ascended to No. 2 in the most prolific Test run-getters list

Former England batter Kevin Pietersen feels batting now is far easier than it was 20-25 years ago. Pietersen, who scored 8,181 runs at 47.28 in his nine-year career, has hinted at the quality of bowlers going down as the years have gone by.

"Don't shout at me, but batting these days is way easier than 20/25 years ago! Probably twice as hard back then! Pietersen wrote on X on July 26 (Saturday).

Pietersen's comments have come a day after Joe Root ascended to the second spot among the most prolific run-getters in Test cricket, just behind Sachin Tendulkar.

"Waqar, Shoaib, Akram, Mushtaq, Kumble, Srinath, Harbhajan, Donald, Pollock, Klusener, Gough, McGrath, Lee, Warne, Gillespie, Bond, Vettori, Cairns, Vaas, Murali, Curtley, Courtney and the list could go on and on," he continued

"I've named 22 above. Please name me 10 modern-day bowlers that can compare to the names above?"

Pietersen also scored 23 Test centuries in his career - the most in the format for England after Root (38) and Alastair Cook (33).
