England Will Benefit From Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Not Playing: Former Spinner

The duo retired from the format leading up to the series

The much-anticipated contest between India and England will begin on June 20 with the first Test at Headingley. It will mark a new era in Indian cricket as it will be the first series in years that will not feature Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

Acknowledging that, former England spinner Monty Panesar feels England will have the edge, given that the two veteran batters won't be part of the tour as they recently announced their retirements.

“England will benefit from the fact that Virat and Rohit are not playing. Their experience could have been used for India. But they are inexperienced. What happens with inexperience?... How will India play against England? We know how England can play. It's possible that India will collapse," Panesar told ANI.

Panesar has also backed new India captain Shubman Gill, who averages less than 15 in England, to come good in the series. “I think Shubman Gill will be a good captain. He will bat well with responsibility. I think he will bat well with responsibility.”

India have not won a Test series in England since 2007.
