Everything has gone according to England’s plan on day one of the third Test at Lord’s, on July 10 (Thursday). After winning the toss and opting to bat, the Three Lions openers started strong, with a 43-run partnership.
However, just when it seemed like Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley were taking the game away from India, Nitish Kumar Reddy struck twice, to put England under immense pressure. Ollie Pope and Joe Root steadied England’s ship from there, but the loss of two quick wickets made them sweat again at Lord’s.
That’s when two of England’s most senior batters, Joe Root (99) and Ben Stokes (39) stepped up, as England finished day one on 251/4.
According to AccuWeather, there’s no real problem with rain on day two of the Lord’s Test, on July 11 (Friday). Expect England’s summer to be at its peak, with the highest temperature of 32 degrees Celsius.
There’s just 2% of precipitation, which in all likelihood won’t stop the match for a significant period of time, with 5% cloud cover.
