India add Kuldeep Yadav to squad for third ODI

The number of injuries has forced India into this addition

India have had an ODI series to forget thus far, with a rare loss against Bangladesh. But to make things worse, in the second ODI, two of India’s integral players in the setup – Rohit Sharma and Deepak Chahar – suffered injuries, which has ruled them out of the three-match ODI series.

Tearaway pacer Kuldeep Sen too has been ruled out of the series, with a stiff back, which has forced the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to add left-arm unorthodox spinner, Kuldeep Yadav to the team.

“Kuldeep Sen has been diagnosed with a stress injury and is ruled out of the series. Fellow fast bowler Deepak Chahar sustained a left hamstring strain during the 2nd ODI and is also ruled out of the series. Both Kuldeep and Deepak will now report to NCA for further management of their injuries,” read BCCI’s press release.

On the other hand, the word on Rohit Sharma is that the skipper has flown back to Mumbai for special consultation and will miss the remainder of the ODI series. His availability in the two-match Test series would be taken at a later date.

“India Captain Rohit Sharma suffered a blow to his thumb in the second over while fielding in the 2nd ODI. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him and he underwent scans at a local hospital in Dhaka. He has flown to Mumbai for specialist consultation and will miss the final ODI. A call on his availability for the upcoming Test series will be taken later,” added the release.

India's squad for 3rd ODI against Bangladesh: KL Rahul (C) (WK), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Shreyas Iyer, Rahul Tripathi, Ishan Kishan (WK), Shahbaz Ahmed, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Siraj, Umran Malik, Kuldeep Yadav
