While India were primed to be favourites against South Africa in the three-match Test series, none expected the visitors to dominate the proceedings in the manner that they did. On the back of India’s historic win at the SuperSport Park in Centurion, former South African pacer Morne Morkel heaped praises on the Indian team, calling them as the ‘best team’ in world cricket.
"Well Done. They (Team India) are by far the best team in the world today. In a short time now, you deserve it, they've worked long and hard to support their team that can go an compete away from home," Morkel said during the post-match show.
Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, India focused more aggressively on picking up 20 wickets in the Test match, with five bowlers. India claimed their maiden win in Centurion, with 113-run win, on the back of the impressive bowling display from both Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.
"The clear game plan that the bowlers can take 20 wickets; so enjoy this moment. I think it's a special feat to be a part of. For me, India are definitely leading the way," he added.
India now head to the Wanderers in Johannesburg with a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series, with a real opportunity of becoming the first Indian side to win a series in the Rainbow nation.
