India won the toss for the first time in the third ODI of their long white ball tour in England and decided to bat first in Durham. The coin finally fell in Harmanpreet Kaur’s favour in the series decider after denying her the chance to choose batting or bowling in the last seven occurrences in this tour.
With the series 1-1, India have brought in left-arm spinner Radha Yadav in place of pacer Arundhati Reddy, which means that India are playing with as many as four spinners in their playing XI. Amanjot Kaur is still out of the side, with no explanation behind her absence.
Meanwhile, England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt wants her team to repeat the great performance at Lord’s and have made two changes to the playing XI, with Lauren Filer and Alice David-Richardson replacing Em Arlott and Maia Bouchier.
India had earlier won the first ODI with some splendid bowling, and England returned the favour in the second ODI as the Indian batting crumbled in a rain-shortened game. It’s overcast today as well in Chester-le-Street (Durham), with some light showers expected at some point later in the game.
India have already won the T20I series 3-2, and would love to end the ODI series on a high, with the ODI World Cup scheduled to be held in India in a few months' time.
