The Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who had a terrific outing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, was recently in Munich, Germany, as he posted photos on his social media handles.
It was later revealed that Surya was in Germany to get under the knife for his Sports Hernia surgery, which had reportedly been successful.
India currently don’t have any T20I commitments with their next white-ball series against Bangladesh, scheduled to begin in August. Thus, Surya, who smashed 717 runs in IPL 2025, becoming the highest scorer for a non-opener in a season in IPL’s history, will have enough time to recover.
The T20 leg of India’s Bangladesh tour will begin on August 26 in Chattogram, so Surya, who also holds the record for scoring the most runs in an IPL season for a Mumbai Indians (MI) batter, will have nearly two months to get back to full fitness.
Surya’s presence in the T20I set-up for the Indian team is vital as he is the captain of the team which will be looking to defend the title that they won in the 2024 T20 World Cup, in the 2026 T20 World Cup, which his team will co-host with Sri Lanka.
