Ahead of the all-important semi-final clash against Australia in the ICC T20 World Cup in Cape Town, India are uncertain about the fitness of skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who reported sick on Monday and was in the hospital briefly on Wednesday evening. The team management hasn’t given any details about Harmanpreet’s availability, but what comes as another shock for the team, Pooja Vastrakar has also been ruled out of the match after complaining of illness.
With Vastrakar being ruled out of the game, India have Sneh Rana and Anjali Savani to choose from whereas Harmanpreet would make way for Harleen Deol in the encounter. There could be a possibility that India may bring back Radha Yadav, who sat out of the Ireland clash, with Devika Vaidya replacing her in the squad.
Harmanpreet Kaur has failed to set up the tournament ablze, with only 66 runs in four matches, but has been a calming presence for the side. If she fails to recover in time, Smriti Mandhana will be leading the team against Meg Lanning’s Australia.
As far as Vastrakar is concerned, she hasn’t had a tournament to remember, with only two wickets from four games at an economy over 7 runs. Deol, on the other hand, hasn’t played a single match in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
