Over the last 48 hours, the chaos around India walking away from the presentation ceremony has made a ruckus on the internet. According to several reports, the Indian team decided to walk away from the trophy because they were forced to receive it from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC)’s president, Mohsin Naqvi.
Given the political tension between the two countries and Naqvi’s comments on social media, the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav revealed that the players decided not to accept their trophy. However, now, Cricbuzz has reported that the Indian team will get their medals but will have to receive them from PCB’s former CEO himself.
“Naqvi is understood to have told the organisers that the Indian team would receive their medals - and that he himself would present them, provided a formal function was arranged,” reported Cricbuzz.
However, it is highly unlikely given the tensions between the two countries, and a formal event seems impossible at the moment, given the scheduling. India delivered a dominant display in the final, securing a five-wicket win over Pakistan and extending their unbeaten streak in the competition.
