India dominated the second day as well as they managed to post a massive total of 587 with captain Shubman Gill breaking multiple records, scoring an outstanding 269. England suffered early damage as they lost their first three wicket for just 25 runs. The experienced Joe Root and new sensation Harry Brook have done a decent job in getting England back in the game as they have had an unbeaten 52-run partnership at the end of Day 2.
With a massive day 3 coming up, here are a few possible things that we can expect.
Day 3 is the moving day of the Test match as major events will be expected to happen. Pacers are expected to have a good day tomorrow. Since 2021, Birmingham has been the best venue for pacers on day 3 as they have a bowling SR 34.6, which is the best at a venue in England. Indian pacers will be eager to bowl and derail the England batters.
India pacers have been terrific in the second innings of a Test. Since 2022, they have managed to take 126 wickets at an average 22.8, which is right up there as the best. There will be huge expectations on Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep to deliver. Considering this, don't be surprised if England get bundled out below 350.
Harry Brook is a terrific batter in the second innings of a Test match. His batting average of 73.5 is the one of the best in the second innings since 2022. He scores a fifty every alternate innings as he has smashed eight 50+ scores in 15 innings. With him starting off well, expect him to be the best batter on Day 3.
We haven’t had a single drop of rain in Birmingham so far in this Test, and this pattern is set to continue tomorrow. So yes, good news for fans of India and England too.
There is rain expected but only post 7 PM. There’s a 7% chance of rain between 2 PM to 6 PM but it’s very unlikely to actually rain during this period. We can expect some cloudy periods but the sun is likely to be out for the most part.
