India vs South Africa, 3rd T20I: Fantasy Preview

Here are a few tips and suggestions that might help you in creating your fantasy team for the third T20I between India and South Africa

The three-match T20I series has already been decided, with South Africa winning the first two games against India. The visitors have been the dominant side across the tour, having earlier won the ODI series by a 4-1 margin. While South Africa have been excellent, lack of game time coming into this series seems to have hurt the Indian team.

Despite South Africa’s wins over the last couple of days, India still come out on top when you consider past meetings between the two teams in T20Is. But the Proteas, of course, have been the better team recently.

T20I HEAD-TO-HEAD

Overall: Matches – 12 | India – 7 Wins | South Africa – 4 Wins | No Result – 1

Last 5 Matches: India – 2 Wins | South Africa – 3 Wins

SUGGESTED TEAMS

While you could go for the above team, you also have the option of choosing your own team from Cricket.com’s Fantasy Research Centre. Based on algorithms we come up with six different teams that could fetch crucial points.

GROUND DETAILS & TEAM COMBINATION

Just like every match on this tour so far, the final T20I will also be played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. In the two T20Is that have taken place, 580 runs have been scored in four innings at a run-rate of 7.3, with a wicket falling every 29.7 deliveries.

Every match in the ODI series as well as the T20I series until now has been won by the team batting second. In addition to that, with the series already decided, both teams could make some changes for this match. So, wait until the toss to finalise your team. If Marizanne Kapp and Harmanpreet Kaur are playing, you’d want to include them in your team.

We’ve selected five batters (including one wicketkeeper), three all-rounders and three bowlers in our team.

CAPTAINCY SUGGESTION

With Anneke Bosch opening the batting as well as bowling a decent number of overs, it’s hard to look past her as captain. She has been in good form too recently, scoring fifties in the final ODI and the first T20I. Bosch has made solid contributions as a bowler as well, taking three wickets in the two T20Is so far.

Our Criclytics player projector predicts Bosch could score 14-37 runs and could take 0-1 wickets in this match.

X-FACTORS

Just like Bosch, Harleen Deol is also a great option because she can contribute both as a batter and as a bowler. She has also been excellent in the two matches in this series so far. Batting at No.3, she has scores of 52 and 31. In addition to that, she has also taken one wicket each in both games.

Our Criclytics player projector predicts Harleen could score 10-33 runs and could take 0-1 wickets in this match.

Lizelle Lee has been sensational throughout the tour. After a sublime ODI series, during which she notched up three 50+ scores in four matches, she made a magnificent 70 off 45 deliveries to help South Africa win the second T20I. If she isn’t rested for this game, then she is one player you cannot miss out on.

Our Criclytics player projector predicts Lee could score 14-37 runs in this match.

Shafali Verma was brilliant in Sunday’s T20I, scoring 47 from 31 deliveries. In fact, since her international debut in September 2019, no Indian batter has scored more runs than her in women’s T20Is – 557 runs at an average of 27.9 and strike rate of 144.3. In her last six T20I innings, she has scored 35+ on four occasions, although most of those knocks came over a year ago.

Our Criclytics player projector predicts Shafali could score 13-36 runs in this match.
