Indian Opener Takes U-Turn On Goa Route, Wants To Keep Playing For Mumbai
The cricketer, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had sought an NOC to play for Goa as he wanted to shift there with his family
In one of the biggest U-turns in Indian domestic cricket, India Test opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had earlier sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to play for the Goa state team in the upcoming 2025-26 season, has gone back on his request.
In the latest development in the case, Jaiswal has now asked MCA if he would like to withdraw the NOC, already granted to him, as his and his family’s plans to move to Goa have been halted.
“I, the undersigned, would request your goodself to consider my request to withdraw my NOC given to me as I had some family plans in shifting to Goa which, for now, has been curtailed !,” Jaiswal’s email was quoted by Indian Express.
“So I sincerely request MCA to allow me to play for Mumbai this season ! I have not submitted the NOC to BCCI nor to Goa Cricket Association,” Jaiswal added in the email.
Earlier, while seeking NOC to move to Goa, Jaiswal had told the media that he was given a leadership opportunity at Goa and was therefore excited to get the new opportunity.
Currently a member of the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Jaiswal, originally from Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh, has moved to Mumbai for his cricketing dreams. After representing India in the U-19 World Cup, he got into the Mumbai domestic team straightaway and made a name for himself with a double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, becoming an integral member of the Mumbai setup.
