In the crucial Qualifier 1 fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer edged one to the wicketkeeper for just 2 off three deliveries off the bowling of Josh Hazlewood.
Hazlewood has owned Iyer, having got the better of the batter on four occasions in the IPL. Moreover, Iyer averages just 2.8 and has a strike rate of 50 against the Australian pacer.
Hazlewood got the better of the PBKS skipper at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium earlier this season. Iyer was caught behind there as well, scoring just 2 off 4.
Moreover, Iyer has also not had the best of times at home in Mullanpur. In his five IPL matches here, Iyer has scored just 27 runs at 5.4 at a strike rate of 100. He now holds the unwanted record of having the lowest average at a venue in IPL 2025.
5.4 - Shreyas Iyer, Mullanpur
6.2 - Deepak Hooda, Chennai
6.67 - Quinton de Kock, Kolkata
7.67 - Rahul Tripathi, Chennai
8.0 - Shimron Hetmyer, Jaipur
Iyer was the third wicket that fell for PBKS in the powerplay. This was the fifth time they have been at least three down in the first six overs in IPL 2025.
