Karun Nair smashed a double century for India A against England Lions to boost his chances of a Test comeback after a gap of seven years. On the same day, a young cricketer made a mark in England.
Nair's Delhi Capitals (DC) teammate Ashutosh Sharma smashed a 70-ball century on his debut for Wigan Cricket Club against Formby CC in the 2025 Liverpool and District Cricket Competition. His side was in a spot of bother at 17/3 within the first 10 overs, but along with opening batter Aveen Dalugod, he stitched a 153-run stand in quick time to resurrect Wigan's innings.
The 26-year-old smashed eight fours and six sixes, scoring his runs at an impressive strike rate of 136.99. Ashutosh arrived in the UK in the early hours of May 31 (Saturday) after his stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, where he scored 204 runs at a strike rate of 160.62 for DC.
With DC failing to qualify for the playoffs, it gave Ashutosh a chance to play in England. However, this is not his first stint in England. He has played in the Kent Cricket League First Division for Gravesend in 2022 and 2023.
