Ajinkya Rahane completes a double of sorts in the clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on May 7 (Wednesday). Rahane became the ninth player to score 5,000 runs in IPL history, getting there in 182 innings. Along the way, he also completed 500 runs for KKR.

Rahane first played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2022 and then played for CSK the next two seasons, before returning to Kolkata, after he was bought for INR 1.5 crore at the auction. He was named captain of the franchise after Shreyas Iyer moved to the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
The Mumbai veteran has played for six franchises in the IPL. He has tasted the most success with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for whom he has scored 2,810 runs in 100 matches. He has not crossed 1,000 runs for any of the other five franchises.
Rahane has been in excellent form this season, and is the team's leading run-getter with over 350 runs and is striking at nearly 150. His efforts have kept KKR in the hunt for a place in the playoffs. They are currently in sixth position with 11 points from as many matches.
They have Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as their next two opponents with after this clash against CSK.
