Delhi Capitals (DC), under new skipper Axar Patel, have made a perfect start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, having won both their games this season so far. Their most recent victory came against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Visakhapatnam.
Abishek Porel, who contributed an unbeaten 34 off 18 in the run-chase against SRH, says Axar is a funny guy off the field but very motivated on it.
“Off the field, Axar is very funny, and on the field, he is a very motivated guy. He has been leading the side very well. Overall, the captaincy has been really good," Porel said at the post-match press conference.
It was a clinical performance by DC for both bat and ball. Mitchell Starc led the way with a fifer to restrict a powerful SRH batting line-up to just 163. Then, the batters, too, did their jobs, with Faf du Plessis scoring a 27-ball fifty, and there were also useful contributions from Jake Fraser-McGurk (38) and Tristan Stubbs (21*) as well.
Porel feels it was a complete team effort.
"It was a great team effort and everyone made the contributions. Starc bowled really well, and after that, Faf batted really well. He has been doing a good job for us. Jake Fraser-McGurk took his time, but he paced his innings really well, and later, Tristan Stubbs made a good contribution, and we eventually won the game," Porel said.
DC will look to make it three in three in IPL 2025 when they take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 5 (Sunday) in Chennai.
