Questions are bound to be raised when you lose five out of six matches in an Indian Premier League (IPL) season. After their win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in their first game, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have lost five in a row, finding themselves in ninth position on the table.
Former India batter Manoj Tiwary was not pleased with the planning by Ravichandran Ashwin and MS Dhoni against Sunil Narine, who made a mockery of the 104-run chase. Ashwin was bought for INR 9.75 crore at the IPL 2025 auction. Dhoni, on the other hand, led CSK for the first time since the IPL 2023 final.
"Why do they not go to the drawing board early? I think it is obvious that you re-assess after a loss. But some things that are taking place is beyond my understanding," Tiwary said on Cricbuzz.
"Like, when Ashwin was bowling today, earlier to all the left-handers, he bowled round the stumps, but today he bowled over the stumps. It became very easy for Sunil Narine. These small things...when you have such an experienced player and wicketkeeper like MS Dhoni? Have their brains stopped working?"
After bowling CSK out for just 103, KKR chased down the target in just 10.1 overs, handing the opposition their heaviest defeat. CSK have a chance to get their campaign back on track when they take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow next.
