Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 16 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
Both teams are next to each other in the points table, in fifth and sixth place, and this clash will determine who leap-frogs the others. There’s still no report on whether Jasprit Bumrah will be fit for the clash, but Akash Deep is most likely to be part of the encounter.

Astonishingly, LSG have dominated MI in the IPL thus far, winning five out of the six games they have faced. MI have just won one game against LSG.
LSG didn’t get off to a great start at home, with a crushing loss at the hands of Punjab Kings. If the pitch continues to follow a similar pattern, Mumbai Indians will come away with two crucial points from Lucknow.
Nicholas Pooran emerges as the best batter on current form between these two teams. While MI batters haven’t clicked thus far in the tournament, Pooran has been a massive plus point for LSG, with the Orange Cap over his head - 189 runs @63.0 and a strike rate of 219.77. Expect a lot of boundaries from Pooran.
Considering Ashwani Kumar’s form, it is impossible to look beyond him, especially against a batting unit that hasn’t been firing on all cylinders. The left-arm pacer, on his IPL debut, ended with figures of 4/24.
Only one game has been played at the venue thus far, and the early signs are that it is not as spin-friendly as it was last season. In that clash, LSG scored 171/7, with PBKS chasing it down with nearly four overs to spare. Five out of the nine wickets fell to pace, so expect a similar pattern.
Given that the Indian summer has started, expect nothing but hot and humid weather in Lucknow when LSG take on MI on April 4 (Friday). There’s zero per cent chance of rain, and dew could be a factor.
