In a massive boost for Punjab Kings (PBKS), leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal could return to the XI after training in Ahmedabad ahead of the Qualifier 2 fixture against Mumbai Indians (MI) on June 1 (Sunday), according to the Times of India. Chahal was seen with some protection on his right wrist as he warmed up, took a few catches and also bowled in the nets.
The portal understands that the INR 18 crore signing is willing to take injections, if needed, to feature against MI.
Chahal has missed the last two games for PBKS - against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Qualifier 1 and MI in the group stage, as he was nursing a wrist injury, as previously confirmed by the team's spin-bowling coach Sunil Joshi.
The 34-year-old has picked up 12 wickets at an economy rate of 9.56 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season so far. He picked up just two wickets in his first five matches, but a four-wicket haul against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) turned his season around. He was among the wickets after that and in fact, finished with 4/32 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as well.
PBKS finished top of the IPL 2025 points table but lost to RCB in Qualifier 1. However, they can still make the final if they beat MI in their next match.
