Rohit Sharma Becomes Second-Highest Run-Getter In IPL History

Only Virat Kohli has more runs than the MI batter in the IPL

Rohit Sharma has become the second-highest run-getter in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, going past Shikhar Dhawan's tally of 6,769 runs. He achieved this feat during the IPL 2025 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Mumbai on April 20 (Sunday).

Rohit is now only behind Virat Kohli, who has 8,326 runs. Like Kohli, Rohit too has played every season in the IPL since its inception in 2008. Earlier today, Rohit also broke Chris Gayle's record of most sixes in T20 cricket in India.

The former MI captain has been struggling for form, and in fact, this is the first time he has gone past 30 this season. This was his 18th IPL 50-plus at the Wankhede Stadium, the joint-most at a venue.

This was also his 10th fifty while chasing at the Wankhede, which is the most at a venue. Overall, Rohit has 44 fifties and two centuries in the IPL.
