Shardul Thakur proved the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) management right for the faith they showed in him by picking him as a late replacement for the injured Mohsin Khan.
He picked up two wickets in the first over of his maiden spell on LSG debut, removing two of Delhi Capitals’s most dangerous batters, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Ishan Porel, on March 24 (Monday) during match 4 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
Shardul, who had gone unsold in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction in November 2024, was announced as Mohsin's replacement by the LSG on March 23 (Sunday). He joined the side at his base price of INR 2 Cr, which was also his reserved price in the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP).
Both the wickets for Mumbaikar, who canceled his county contract to be with LSG, came via matches. While Fraser-McGurk was caught by Ayush Badoni, Abhishek Porel was caught by Nicholas Pooran.
Delhi, chasing 210 to win, could not recover from those twin strikes and were 65/5 in 6.4 overs while this copy was published.
