After a couple of "home" matches in Visakhapatnam, Delhi Capitals (DC) will finally play at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, getting their campaign underway at the venue against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 13 (Sunday). DC, who have won all their four matches so far, are the only unbeaten team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Axar Patel has rallied his troops well, and the team has responded well after he was appointed captain for this season. Batter Ashutosh Sharma has lauded Axar for the way he has led the team.
"Axar Patel's captaincy is very good. He is leading the team really well, and all the youngsters are very comfortable within the set-up, so we are able to talk to each other freely," Ashutosh said ahead of the MI clash.
Ashutosh also expressed his excitement of playing at home for the first time this season.
"The atmosphere of the team is very good. It's my first year in Delhi. I was very excited to play for DC before the season, and the way we are playing, it's been amazing. We will continue playing the same way we have been, and it's great to be in Delhi and excited to play at home in front of our home crowd," the 26-year-old said.
The attacking batter is a believer in preparing well ahead of every match regardless of where the match is.
"If your preparation is good, it doesn't make any difference if you are playing in Delhi or in Vizag. And everyone has played a good amount of cricket in Delhi, so everyone knows how the wicket will play here," he said.
He further added that he never feels the pressure and just believes in trusting the process.
"I always focus on the process, and it becomes easy. And I don't feel much pressure. I don't think about winning or losing after the match. When I get batting, I know I have to win the match. I have to play well. And if I don't get the batting, I have to practice. I keep things simple," Ashutosh, who scored an unbeaten 66 off 31 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in DC's first match, said.
