Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan are likely to be part of the India A squad for the first four-day game against England Lions, starting on May 30, reported the Indian Express.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to end on June 3, with the playoffs starting on May 29, but Kishan’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Jaiswal’s Rajasthan Royals (RR) have already been knocked out of the competition.
Karun Nair, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Dhruv Jurel, Shardul Thakur, Tanush Kotian, Akash Deep, Khaleel Ahmed, Anshul Kamboj and Manav Suthar are the other players who are expected to part of the first squad.
India A are scheduled to play two four-day games against England Lions and another red-ball game against India’s main squad before the five-match series against England, starting on June 20.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar, who are all part of the Gujarat Titans (GT) set-up, are likely to feature in the second game against England Lions. GT have a high chance of qualifying for the IPL 2025 playoffs.
Sarfaraz Khan, who is recovering from a rib injury, will travel with the main squad in June, while Rajat Patidar is likely to miss the entire tour because of a finger injury.
With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli having announced their retirement, there are two spots available in the Indian batting order. The ‘A’ series will be very important for the likes of Sudharsan, Nair and Easwaran.
In the pace department, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj are unlikely to feature in all five Tests in England. Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna will also be part of the main squad, but the team management is also keeping a close eye on Anshul Kamboj and Khaleel Ahmed.
The 24-year-old seamer from Haryana, Kamboj has 74 wickets in 22 first-class games at an average of 22.66. In the last edition of the Ranji Trophy, the right-armer took 34 wickets in six games @ 13.79. His Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammate, Khaleel took 16 wickets in four games @ 21.43 and will bring that left-arm angle into play.
