Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal makes way for Varun Chakravarthy in the 15-member squad

India pacer Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to a lower back injury, the BCCI confirmed on February 11 (Tuesday). The speedster will be replaced by Harshit Rana, who recently made his ODI debut in the series against England.

Bumrah was named in the initial 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy and was also undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. However, his back injury was considered severe enough for India not to risk him for the tournament.

The pacer sustained the injury during the final day of the Sydney Test against Australia.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, too, has been omitted from the squad and has been replaced by mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy. Along with Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj and Shivam Dube have been named in the non-travelling reserves and will travel to Dubai for the tournament as and when required, the BCCI stated.

The rest of the squad remains the same. India begin their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai.

India squad for ICC Champions Trophy, 2025: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill (vc), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Mohd. Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Varun Chakaravarthy.

Non-travelling substitutes: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, Shivam Dube
